From shovels in the ground to walls now standing strong, our new men’s center (Anchor House) on Miles Jamison Road is almost complete and expected to open in November 2025. This milestone represents more than a building—it is a promise that Keys to Change will remain rooted in Summerville and Dorchester County for as long as our neighbors need us.

For years, our men’s center has operated in a leased building. With this permanent facility, we are securing a future where individuals experiencing homelessness can find stability, support, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives.

Construction has been made possible through government funding received from a SC State Appropriation, the Town of Summerville, and Dorchester County Governments.

But we are not finished yet and know that our supporters will help us complete this project and work with us as we plan to launch the next phase of our capital campaign.

Your support will help us:

  1. Finish the men’s center and open doors to stability this fall.
  2. Strengthen our capacity to serve more neighbors in need.
  3. Lay the groundwork for future facilities that ensure no one faces homelessness alone.

Prior to their residency at the center, all prospective guests are required to adhere to the following regulations:

  1. Commit to seeking full-time employment during their stay at the center and actively strive towards both short-term and long-term objectives.
  2. Collaborate with the center’s personnel to establish personalized objectives aimed at fostering independence, and diligently work towards accomplishing these goals.
  3. Successfully pass a thorough background check conducted by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED). Additionally, due to the proximity of our centers to places of worship and educational institutions, individuals with a history of sex offense charges are ineligible for residency. Furthermore, our centers are not equipped to accommodate guests with severe mental health diagnoses.
  4. Maintain sobriety from alcohol and drugs throughout their tenure at the centers.

These regulations are established to ensure the safety, welfare, and success of all residents within our centers. Adherence to these rules is paramount to fostering an environment conducive to personal growth, empowerment, and positive community engagement.
